1. introduction

Royal Hotels & Resort Dubrovnik is a luxury hotel complex located on the Lapad peninsula, along the Adriatic Sea coast. It comprises several properties, including Villa Elite, Royal Blue, Royal Ariston, Royal Palm, Royal Princess, and Royal Neptun, offering top-tier service, culinary experiences, and wellness facilities in an environment that emphasizes sustainability and harmony with nature.

For years, the resort has actively invested in sustainable technologies and socially responsible operations. We use heat pumps and solar panels for energy-efficient water and space heating, while Royal Blue employs an innovative solution harnessing thermal energy from the sea to produce hot water. All rooms are equipped with faucet aerators to reduce water consumption without compromising guest comfort. We use L’Occitane natural and eco-friendly cosmetics in all rooms, further demonstrating our commitment to sustainability and high-quality service. We welcome all our guests with a bottle of bottled water from a local source.

A smart system for automating energy, heating, and lighting consumption has been implemented, optimizing usage and reducing CO₂ emissions.

In collaboration with Dubrovnik’s municipal waste management company, Čistoća, we systematically separate waste, including independently pressing cardboard and paper for recycling.

Beyond environmental responsibility, the resort is deeply engaged in socially beneficial activities: long-term support for the Dubrovnik Volleyball Club, regular donations to Caritas and Dubrovnik General Hospital, and a partnership with the Anastazija Association to care for cats living on the resort grounds—all animals are sterilized, vaccinated, protected from parasites, and rehomed.

We place special emphasis on protecting the marine environment. Since 2014, we have organized four major eco-diving cleanup actions in collaboration with ERK Raguza and RC Abyss, with the 2020 action standing out as the city’s main ecological initiative that year.
